The Umbrella of Political Parties convened a crucial leadership conference in Kit today, bringing together key political figures to address pressing challenges and strategize for South Sudan’s future.
The chairperson of the Umbrella of Political Parties, Peter Mayen, highlights the conference by emphasizing the importance of unity among the diverse political factions.
“This gathering allows us to outline our visions and solidify our determination to build strong leadership capable of delivering a brighter future for our nation,” he stated.
Over the next three days, participants will discuss the challenges facing the coalition and the broader political landscape. Key agenda items include reorganizing the Umbrella of Political Parties, developing new policies, and preparing for the upcoming elections in 2026.
Mayen acknowledged the difficulties encountered in organizing the conference and expressed gratitude to all those who made it possible. He also extended well wishes to those unable to attend, hoping for their participation in future decisions.
The chairperson reiterated the significance of the Yambio conventions, which called for reforms in electoral institutions, including the National Election Commission and the Political Parties Council. “These resolutions represent milestones achieved by our coalition, and we must build upon them,” he said.
As the conference progresses, party leaders will explore strategies for voter registration and mobilization, which are essential for ensuring the success of their initiatives ahead of the election.
