A youth leader from Baba Buma of Nzara County, Mr. Charles Bole Yambio, who is also a survivor of the deadly ambush along the Nzara – Ringasi road on Tuesday, is urgently calling on the state government to deploy military forces to the area. His appeal comes as the community faces increasing fear and insecurity, preventing them from accessing their farmland.

Mr. Bole Yambio, who is nursing gunshot wounds, was among three civilians who were injured when armed assailants opened fire on passersby, killing four people on the spot. The attack, which took place on Tuesday morning, it occurred between Nzara town and Ringasi Payam in Nzara County. In addition to the fatalities, unconfirmed reports suggest that several individuals were abducted by the attackers.

In an emotional interview with King Media on Thursday, Bole Yambio expressed the extreme fear in the community of Baba Buma.

“I am calling on all our leaders that you should not leave us alone because we don’t have the power to defend ourselves. We are farmers and we depend entirely on our gardens to survive and pay our children to school. So, we are appealing to the government to deploy forces in the affected area to protect us”.  Bole appealed

The commissioner of Nzara County confirmed the tragic incident on Tuesday, reporting the deaths of four individuals. The violence has left the public in a state of uncertainty.

Gimala Philip, another survivor of the ambush, sustained fractures to his hand when he was shot during the attack. Speaking to Anisa Radio, Philip recounted his narrow escape and the panic that gripped the area.

“After I was shot, I immediately fell in a hole by the roadside, so that person who shot me ordered me, ordered that I stand up, but I told him my hand got broken from the gunshot. He asked me to hand over my phone to him, which I did as he commanded; he attempted to shoot me, and I told him not to shoot me. I have 50,000 SSP, and he should take and leave me. So I gave him the money. He told me to enter the bush and hide there, and I did so. Now, the passenger that was after me was shot dead. After seeing the assailants had left, I came out of the bush and found four dead bodies lying in the middle of the road, so I picked up my motorbike and proceeded.  Gismala narrated

The attack has left many residents living in constant fear, unsure of when or where the next assault may occur.
