King News 06th September Juba – Molana Kalisto, the former Mayor of the Juba City Council, has been released from the National Security Service (NSS) detention today, Friday.
In a Facebook post, Lawyer Wani Santo Jada confirmed that his client has been released from the National Security Service (NSS) detention center.
The post read, and I quote, “Our client Kalisto Lado, the former mayor of Juba, has been released from NSS detention center.” End of quote
Kalisto’s arrest on March 30, 2024, ignited controversy and drew condemnation from human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, which deemed it arbitrary.
Additionally, his detention sparked widespread criticism from lawmakers, civil society groups, and international organizations, including the U.S. Embassy.
The reasons behind the former Mayor’s detention are still unclear, but King News will provide updates as more information becomes available.
