King News 24th Sept Juba – The Inspector General of Police Gen Atem Marol called for behavioral Change to Strengthen Police Force in South Sudan; this came recently during the celebrated significant achievement with the graduation of 1,185 officers from a comprehensive two-year, two-month transformation training program in Central Equatoria State.
This event marks a crucial step in strengthening law enforcement capabilities across the nation. Speaking during the ceremony, Inspector General of Police Gen. Atem Marol delivered a powerful address, emphasizing the pressing challenges within the police force, particularly the necessity for behavioral changes among officers. He stated, “Training is essential for advancing the police force, and we will persist with these programs to foster that change.”
Gen. Atem highlighted Central Equatoria as a model for effective policing in South Sudan, crediting the success of the program to the thorough training the officers received. He remarked, “It is important for the police to attend training since it is the only way to transform police from one level to another.” This sentiment underlines the ultimate goal of creating a more professional and responsive police force that can adequately serve the community and address criminal activities.
Furthermore, the Inspector General urged all states to prioritize continuous training of their police forces to enhance service delivery and combat crime more effectively. His earlier plans outlined the training of 1,000 police officers in each state, aiming to bolster law enforcement efforts nationwide.
