Nile City Football Club proudly unveiled its brand-new home and away kits on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in preparation for its much-anticipated debut in the inaugural South Sudan Premier League (SSPL). The launch event, held at the Yambio Local Football Association grounds, drew an enthusiastic crowd of fans, club officials, and media, marking a historic milestone as the club steps onto South Sudan’s top football stage.
The unveiling was made possible through the generous support of the club’s key sponsors: Vision Infinite as the main sponsor, along with Kaya Foundation and Mul-Media.
Speaking at the event, Francis Fascko, Deputy President of Nile City FC, expressed the club’s excitement and optimism. He highlighted the kit launch as a symbol of a bold new chapter for the team, underscoring its ambition to make a strong impact in the SSPL and establish itself as a competitive force in South Sudanese football
“To the players, these kits are now in your hands. If you perform well in the Premier League, you could one day drive a car with your photos on it, like the players in Europe. This competition is different from the past. We are not just going for a two-week tournament. This time, we are aiming for a six-month campaign. So, every player should give their best to market themselves.” Fascko urged.
The home kit, in Nile City’s signature deep blue and gold, features subtle patterns inspired by the club’s roots, symbolizing elegance and strength. The sleek away kit offers a vibrant yet professional contrast, reflecting the team’s bold identity.
Vision Infinite’s Operations Manager, George Martin Kparabatiko, emphasized the vital role of local investment and community support in advancing football in Western Equatoria State.
“Football needs support. In many cases, our teams qualify from here they go to Juba, they are been beaten and we are here pointing fingers blaming. We lack investment in our football. This is very good , Kaya Foundation. Had it been that 10 or 20 local companies within Yambio come together to contribute, trust me we shall be able to go and compete.” Kparabatiko said.
Wisdom Elias, a passionate supporter of Nile City, expressed his pride and encouraged the team to work hard in the upcoming league season. He also appealed to fans for financial support, noting that the team needs resources to succeed.
“The launching of the new jerseys for 2024 Premier League Season, I am very excited for the company and I encourage the boys to go and work hard. My name is Wisdom Elias, I would like to encourgae the fans to support the team in terms of financial demands and they should also help the team something in order to help themselves. ” Elias said.
The club’s captain, Monday Nelson, also spoke at the event, expressing the team’s determination to make an impact in the SSPL.
“Thank you, Baraka, I am the Captain of Nile City in Yambio. Today is the day we are launching our home and away kits, so we are happy to receive our jerseys and thank those companies that supported us. So, the team is very happy, and we are in preparation on our way to Juba. My message to the fans. You know going to Juba is not an easy thing. We are going there to stay for about six months. I wish they would support us not only by seeing our games but at least by financing; let them be with us so that we can achieve what we are to Juba for.” Nelson stated
Local businesses and organizations have rallied behind Nile City FC, providing crucial sponsorship and support ahead of their highly anticipated SSPL debut. Excitement is building as the club prepares to make its mark in South Sudan’s top football competition.
Yambio Local Football Association’s Acting Secretary, Mr. Olal Onerio, praised the sponsors for their generosity, which has been instrumental in the club’s progress.
With the South Sudan Premier League kicking off in December, Nile City FC is finalizing preparations, focusing on training, team-building, and tactics. Expectations are high as the first-division club representing Yambio looks to start strong with new kits, fresh energy, and clear ambition.
