President Kiir Engages State governors on Security and Community Issues

President Salva Kiir Mayardit convened a meeting with key regional leaders, including Central Equatoria Governor Hon. Augustino Jadalla Wani, Lakes State Governor Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor, and Abyei Chief Administrator Dr. Chol Deng Alak, to discuss the prevailing security situation across their areas.

In a statement obtained from the official page of the president on Monday, President Kiir emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing service delivery and stabilizing security nationwide. “We are dedicated to supporting our regions and ensuring the safety of our citizens,” he affirmed, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the national and regional governments.

Governor of Central Equatoria State Jadalla reported on his recent interactions with communities in Kajo-Keji, Lainya, Yei, Morobo, and Wonduruba.

Jadalla noted a positive trend, stating, “Despite some pockets of insecurity, there is a general sense of calm among the residents.” This indicates a potential shift toward greater stability in Central Equatoria. Additionally, he announced that water tanker operators in Juba had successfully resolved a pricing dispute by agreeing on a uniform rate of 4,000 SSP for water distribution.

In addressing the flooding crisis in Abyei,  Dr. Chol Deng Alak, the chief administrator, expressed urgency, saying, “The situation is critical, and we are implementing strategies to provide relief to those affected.” He outlined the government’s planned interventions aimed at mitigating the impact of flooding and supporting vulnerable communities.

Overall, the meeting underscored the leaders’ commitment to fostering stability and addressing pressing local issues through coordinated efforts and effective governance.
