On Saturday, November 16th, the vibrant town of Renk was cast into sudden silence when the electricity went off at around 2:30 PM. The heat of the afternoon bore down mercilessly, and without fans or air conditioning, the atmosphere felt suffocating. Sadness and frustration mingled in the air as residents grappled with the stillness of a powerless night.
But tonight, at precisely 8:05 PM, Renk was reborn. A flicker of light, then a burst of brilliance, and suddenly, the town erupted with jubilant cries of joy and ululation. Children whistled and cheered, and there was laughter and clapping in celebration as the glow of electric light washed over the streets. Those who had been reliant on noisy generators quickly switched them off, and an almost surreal calm enveloped the town. For the first time in hours, the air was filled not with mechanical drones but with the sounds of laughter, conversations, and music.
Households were alive once more — air conditioners hummed, radios blared lively tunes, and neighbors gathered to share their relief and excitement. It was as if life had been injected back into the veins of the town.
Yet, as the town began to settle back into its rhythm, the peace was shattered in the early hours of Sunday.
At 2:30 AM, a series of deafening explosions ripped through the darkness. Military tank fire had triggered a chain of blasts, sending waves of panic throughout Renk. You could see a flash of light preceded by a thunderous roar that followed.
However, now that we have light, all is bygone! Play the music, and let’s sleep in Peace!
