Slow deployment of unified forces worries-CTSAMVM.

The Ceasefire Transitional and Security Arrangement Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) said the fate of using the Necessary Unified Forces for the anticipated general elections is narrow since deployment is slow CTSAMVP chairperson Yitayal Gelaw Bitew, during the 43rd board meeting, said his organization received information that the Cantonment Sites and Training Centers Commanders continue to report a very challenging situation with a lack of logistical supplies.

Maj. Gen. Yitayal call for concerted effort from all stakeholders for a realization of unhindered implementation of the security arrangement.
“Although CTSAMVM still faces some challenges, I am confident that with your support, we shall achieve the objective of ensuring a faithful and comprehensive implementation of Chapter Two of R-ARCSS,” Yitayal said.

In his remarks, the CTSAMVM boss urged members of his organization to focus on the information and reports they often received to produce professional and realistic solutions in pursuit of implementing Chapter Two of the R-ARCSS.

The CTSAMVM Chairperson, Maj. Gen. Yitayal Gelaw Bitew said he is alarmed by an upsurge in attacks on individuals by unknown armed groups in the country. He said his organization had recorded several individual armed attacks in recent months.

Yitayal cited an incident in Western Equatoria State in which the paramount chief of Ezo County was attacked by unknown armed men as one of the homicide cases.
The Ceasefire monitoring body, according to the chairperson, also noted with great concern what it says is the escalation of activities suspected to be conducted by the National Salvation Army (NAS) around areas of Yei County, where ambushes of civilian vehicles and recruitment of youths to the armed group have been reported.

“We have information that suspected NAS elements ambushed a commercial vehicle at Loka Boma in Lainya County, killed its driver, and injured an SSPDF soldier who was escorting it. Such incidents affect the implementation of the ongoing peace process in South Sudan”.

The CTSAMVM boss calls for restraints from the armed actors to allow a smooth implementation of the 2018 peace accord
