King News July Juba – The South Sudan government inaugurated a state-of-the-art Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) new headquarters in Juba on Monday, the eve of independence.
The new BoSS premises, situated in Jondoru residential area, consist of 12 storied buildings that offer spectacular office spaces, an enormous standard board room for regional/ International conferences, and a distinctive recreational center equipped with all the features and amenities.
Sitting in approximately 500 meters’ square land, the new Boss headquarter also provides a massive park yard for officials and clients.
The President of the Republic, Salva Kiir Mayardit, graced the cutting of the ribbon, which also marked the official opening of the Bank’s Headquarters.
Speaking to only a few selected government officials and diplomats at the highly secured conference hall, the Head of State commended the role of those involved in executing the project.
“This is a significant achievement by the Bank of South Sudan, and as we are preparing to celebrate the most important day in our history, the Independence of South Sudan, let me present the new Bank (Headquarters) as a gift to our citizens,” Kiir said
The President further said that his previous decision to grant the Bank of South Sudan independence from other institutions was to allow it to “deliver on its core mandates.”
The President encouraged Bank officials to cooperate with other organizations to “advance government policies.”
On his part, the incumbent governor of the Bank of South Suda Garang Alic applauded his predecessors and former Central Equatoria governors for facilitating the construction of the Bank.
“The new BoSS Headquarters was selected by the former bank Governor of Sudan, Sabir Mohamed Hassan, in 2008, but it was not him alone. Two other great personalities in this country, two former governors, Hon. Elijah Malok and Hon. Kornelio Mayik, facilitated the transfer of the land from Sudan, and other governors like Dier Tong laid the foundation stone for the construction,” he said.
Garang urged other government institutions to emulate BoSS’s achievement in spreading infrastructural development in the country.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan pledged his country’s determination to deepen political and economic trust with the country.
By press time, no specific detail regarding the amount disbursed to the Chinese Shangdong High-Speed company for the construction was available.
The BoSS commissioning event featured several entertainment and cultural performances from different communities.
