The Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) has dismissed reports alleging that the party is mobilizing armed youth known as Gojom in Rubkona County, Unity State, to attack Ruweng Administrative Area (RAA).
This comes after some reports circulated on social media claiming that SPLA-IO’s Division Four ‘A’ sector two, under the command of Maj. Gen. Turuk Khor in the Tong Cantonment area of Rubkona is planning to mobilize youth to besiege Parieng County in the RAA.
In an interview with King Media on Monday, Major. Kerbino Yai Pazale, SPLA-IO’s Deputy Spokesperson in Unity State, refuted the allegations, labeling them baseless and false.
He stated that the SPLA-IO forces have no intention of attacking Parieng County, adding that such misleading information is being spread by warmongers who oppose peace in the country.
“That document is fake. The SPLA-IO is mobilizing youth to attack Parieng County. The people who share the document on social media are anti-peace, who want people to fight for no reason, spreading misinformation,” Major. Pazale stated.
Pazale stated that Maj. Gen. Turuk Khor, commander of the SPLA-IO Division Four ‘A’, cannot take actions that could return the people of Unity State to war.
“Gen. Turuk Khor is committed to maintaining peace in Unity State and does not want to take the people of Unity State back to war, let alone mobilizing youth. Such propaganda can cause war between people and ruin peace among people. We are in Tong, and we are busy with our things,” he said.
He urged the public to verify facts before spreading it, reaffirming their commitment to regional peace and stability.
