The Vice President and the Chairperson of the Economic Cluster rang the first bell for the students in the country to commence with the 2024 Certificate of Secondary Education Examination on Monday, with a total of 48,484 students participating in this year’s examinations, including 19,993 females and 25,551 males
Addressing the students in Juba Commercial Secondary School, the vice president and the chairperson for the service cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi, highlights the number of students sitting for the examination as 48,484.
“I am told that the number of candidates for this year’s examination is 48,484 students: 19,933 are female, and 28,551 are male, sitting in 319 centers brought from 526 secondary schools across the country. This is a great number. Your country has invested in your secondary education for the last four years, and it is now your turn to show that you are ready to move to higher and tertiary education.”
Meanwhile, the sectary general of the National Examination Council, Simon Nyok, compared the number of students who set last year to this year, stated that 48,484 candidates, which was 6,000 higher than that of the previous year.
“Compared to last year, we have this year 48,484 candidates, which was 6,000 higher than that of the previous year, so we expected much increase, but due to the flood that continued to ravage our country, destroying a number of schools and displacing learners, this has been the case, but we predicted that the number would be higher than that, over 55,000, but unfortunately we end up registering 48,484.”
The exam starts with Christian Religious Education (CRE) and will continue for two weeks countrywide.
