The Vice President for the Economic Cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, has jetted to Uganda to participate in the Twelfth High-Level Meeting of the Regional Oversight Mechanism of the Peace, Security, and Cooperation (PSC) Framework for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Great Lakes Region.

Dr. Mel, who was delegated by President Salva Kiir to represent South Sudan at the summit, left for Entebbe on Wednesday morning.

His presence underscores South Sudan’s steadfast commitment to promoting peace, security, and regional cooperation across the Great Lakes region.

This is Dr. Mel’s first appearance at a regional meeting as the president’s right-hand man, heralding another phase in South Sudan’s diplomatic engagement.

The PSC Framework summit, established in 2013 under the joint leadership of the United Nations, African Union, International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), aims to tackle the root causes of conflict and instability in eastern DRC through collective regional action.
