The human rights activist Edmund Yakani raised concerns about the political vacuum in Western Equatoria State and the national Ministry of Health. This came in a statement to the media on Tuesday.

According to Yakani, the position of the SPLM-IO for the Governor of Western Equatorial State and the Minister of Health is still vacant until today. He added that the civil population is shocked when they learn that the former Governor of Western Equatorial State, Alfred Futuyo, is physically not known where he is in the state headquarters, Yambio, and some people are jubilating and some people are panicked.

‘’I would like to take this opportunity to talk to the sons and daughters of Western Equatoria State. Let the shift of political power not be a source of causing violence that may claim the lives of innocent citizens or may destabilise the economy or may make some people take the law into their hands for violation of human rights.’’

On Monday, President Salva Kiir dismissed the governor of Western Equatoria state, the minister of health, and other top government officials, and there is no replacement for the minister of health and governor of Western Equatoria state.
