At least three soldiers were reportedly wounded in an attack by armed youth on the outskirts of the military base in Ayod County, Jonglei State.

Maj. Gen. Tito Biel, Deputy Commander of the SSPDF’s 10th Infantry Division in Jonglei State, told King Media in an interview on Tuesday that a group of armed youth carried out a surprise attack, wounded three soldiers, and fled into the nearby forest.

“The incident occurred today (Tuesday) when armed youth within Ayod attacked soldiers who were on a mission near the barracks, wounding three of them,” Maj. Gen. Biel said.

He added that security forces are pursuing the attackers to find out whether they are from Ayod or elsewhere in Jonglei.

Biel further noted that the three wounded soldiers will be airlifted to Juba this afternoon for further medical treatment due to the severity of their injuries.
