Unity State Governor Dr. Joseph Nguen Manytuil, on Friday, presided over the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed state and county officials, calling for peace, unity, and improved service delivery across the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Manytuil, who also serves as the state chairperson of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), urged party cadres and government officials to put aside internal divisions and work collectively to strengthen governance and stability.
“SPLM is a mass party with a clear vision and mission. Comrade Secretary, you are tasked with the daily business of the party, and we will support you in executing your duties,” Dr. Manytuil said.
He acknowledged ongoing challenges facing the party, particularly within its structures abroad, but stressed the importance of unity and organization ahead of the anticipated December elections.
“When elections are held in December, we want SPLM to emerge victorious. We are aiming for a large-scale victory, but that can only be achieved in a peaceful and conducive environment,” he added.
He emphasized that lasting peace in Unity State remains a prerequisite for both political success and meaningful development, cautioning leaders against actions that could undermine stability, including revenge violence and political infighting.
“Peace is not optional, it is the foundation for service delivery and development. Our people expect tangible services, and it is our responsibility to deliver,” he said.
Among those sworn in include Deng Muon Liah as SPLM Secretary for Unity State, Salam Maluit as Commissioner of Rubkona County, Koang Biel as Koch County Commissioner, Kaway Chany as Guit County Commissioner, and Taker Riak Dong as Leer County Commissioner.
The newly appointed officials pledged to uphold their mandates and work in line with the governor’s call for unity, peace, and effective service delivery.
