The governor of Unity State, Dr. Joseph Nguen Manytuil, on Sunday embarked on a peace tour to Rotriak town of Rubkona County.
Manytuil’s visit to the area was part of his tour aimed at assessing service delivery and challenges facing the area’s residents.
Addressing the residents, Manytuil warned armed youth along the Unity–Ruweng border to stop violence and instead embrace dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
“My message goes to our youth. I know that there have been criminal activities happening in this area, but you need to stop and embrace peace with our neighboring communities, like Parieng and Abiemnom. Let’s work hard to maintain our livelihood. We can’t survive because we take some other people’s property,” Dr. Manytuil said.
He said the government is engaging oil companies to expand job opportunities for the youth in the state.
“If it’s about job opportunities, there will be employment. The companies are here (Bentiu), you’ll work,” he added.
To strengthen healthcare services, he handed over an ambulance to the Rotriak Primary Healthcare Unit.
“I heard that you people suffer a lot regarding medical stuff. This one here is your ambulance. It will remain here to be used in the hospital,” he stated.
The Governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor William Gatjang Giny, Salam Maluit, Rubkona County Commissioner, and other state officials.
