The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) has announced a series of high-level appointments to reinforce its command structure.
Acting Chairman Oyet Nathaniel appointed three key figures to high-level positions within the SPLA-IO.
In a statement extended to King Media on Wednesday, Nathaniel announced the following appointments: Lt. Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba as Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Lt. Gen. John Both Teny as Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Finance, and Lt. Gen. Samson Wesley Welebe as Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics.
“I do hereby assign Lt. Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba as the SPLA-IO Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Lt. Gen. John Both Teny as Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Finance, and Lt. Gen. Samson Wesley Welebe as Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, with immediate effect,” Nathaniel stated.
This latest reshuffle continues a pattern under Nathaniel’s leadership of reassigning SPLM-IO officials to prominent roles, including individuals previously dismissed from government positions by President Salva Kiir.
This policy reflects SPLM-IO’s strategy to strengthen its operational, administrative, and logistical capacities while ensuring leadership continuity through the integration of dedicated and experienced personnel within the SPLA-IO.
