Western Equatoria State Governor Daniel Badagbu has given newly appointed ministers, county commissioners, and heads of independent commissions 100 days to demonstrate measurable progress in governance and public service delivery following their swearing-in on Friday.
The officials assumed office during a ceremony at the state secretariat, where Governor Badagbu said the new administration must focus on restoring public confidence by promoting peace, accountability and efficient delivery of government services.
Describing the appointments as timely and necessary, the governor said Western Equatoria requires committed leaders capable of rebuilding institutions, strengthening governance and accelerating development across the state.
“This appointment has come at a very crucial and critical time,” he said. “You are servants of the people, and your responsibility is to bring peace, restore trust, and improve service delivery.”
Governor Badagbu also urged the newly appointed officials to reject tribalism and political divisions, stressing that restoring trust in public institutions is essential for achieving lasting peace, attracting investment and promoting sustainable development.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in officials, the Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement, Abel Sudani, former Ezo county commissioner, pledged that his new role would prioritize peacebuilding, grassroots development and inclusive governance.
Sudani urged residents to reject violence and support efforts to unite communities, saying that peace is the foundation for development in Western Equatoria.
“If we choose the right things over the wrong, we shall harvest good yields,” Sudani said. “That means we must choose peace over violence and conflict so that we can take our state forward.”
He reaffirmed the newly appointed officials’ commitment to working collectively to advance peace, strengthen local governance, and improve the lives of the people of Western Equatoria.
