The Western Equatoria State government has recovered three stolen vehicles taken during the unrest following former Governor Alfred Futuyo Karaba’s removal.
On Monday, security forces handed over the vehicles to acting Governor Daniel Badagbu at the state secretariat. Authorities continue searching for other stolen items, with intensified efforts to apprehend those responsible.

Badagbu commended the security forces and urged them to recover more stolen property. He reassured the public that restoring peace and preventing future crimes remain a priority.
“We lost some vehicles in that incident after the removal of the governor, some criminals came and picked vehicles and motorbikes of the people, and those motorbikes we have recovered, some we have returned to their owners. And our security forces continue to search in places where the criminals hide the vehicles, and now our forces have already recovered the vehicles, and they are here, we have now received as a government. Badagbu stated
Wanga Emmanuel, the chairperson for the Network of Civil Society Organizations in Western Equatoria State, applauded the state government for the prompt effort taken to recover the vehicles and the civilian properties.
“Wes commend the state authority and all those who have been behind the arrest of the stolen properties, as many community members still continue to look for their which have been actually stolen by whoever who might have taken part in that, so we are very grateful as civil society on behave of the community, this is already showing that we have a responsive government that is able to follow up what has been lost”. Emmanuel lamented
After the removal of former governor Alfred Futuyo Karaba last week, residents of Yambio County continue to experience looting of their properties and night gunshots, which has been viewed as a security threat to public resources, including the business sector, which is encountering losses as a result of night thefts.
