President Salva Kiir on Monday resumed official duties for the year 2026 following the Christmas and New Year recess, using the occasion to renew his call for peace, unity and national cohesion.
The president was received with a guard of honor at the Presidency and welcomed by senior government officials, including vice presidents, ministers and top presidential aides.
According to a statement from his office, Kiir stressed that peace, unity and dedicated public service remain the foundation for South Sudan’s development.
He urged citizens across the country to embrace hard work and collective responsibility to improve service delivery nationwide.
The head of the state also commended the resilience of South Sudanese amid ongoing challenges, reiterating his administration’s commitment to tackling the country’s pressing political, economic and social issues.
